Fortnite update 29.40 has arrived with a brand new Star Wars crossover taking over each of the games main modes in today's update.
Fortnite is live once again following some downtime earlier today (which was longer than usual), and the game has been infiltrated by a massive influx of Star Wars. The 2024 edition of Fortnite x Star Wars is bringing the classic films to every facet of the game with Fortnite Festival getting some spacey instruments alongside the classic ji*zz tune Mad About Me by Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes – known to us as the Cantina Band theme from Star Wars Episode 4.
Rocket Racing meanwhile, gets the short end of the stick with a few missions and cosmetics, not much to write home about – but it does get some brand new tracks unrelated to Star Wars. While Battle Royale is getting some returning content such as the Darth Vader bossfight and Lightsaber, alongside the new Wookie Bowcaster weapon.
However, it's actually Lego Fortnite that is getting the biggest update during this Fortnite x Star Wars event. This includes a number of items, a new Rebel Village and Star Wars Island in the mode, and the first ever Lego Pass: Rebel Adventure. Battle Royale | Zero Build
Epic Games hasn't posted a typical Fortnite patch notes piece as it usually would, but from the Fortnite x Star Wars updates we've been given so far and changes seen in-game we have an idea of the important changes in today's update.

- Complete four to unlock the Anakin Podracer Decal

The Star Wars and May the Fourth Quests will be available in Rocket Racing until Tuesday, May 21 at 2am BST and Monday, May 20 at 9pm EDT / 6pm PDT.
Major improvements, adjustments, and bug fixes
Respawns
Adjusted respawns to ensure you’re no longer able to respawn ahead of where you farthest made it in the current lap. You should also experience fewer respawns too far behind this point.
This change includes addressing a bug that enabled some players to reverse over the start line, trigger a demolition, and respawn at the next checkpoint further ahead.
Bots are better
- Made a bunch of improvements to bot behavior, including improved off-road pathing, air dodging, jumping, flying, and landing.
General
The shortcut on Jackrabbit that was closed off after v29.30 has been reopened
Teleport Checkpoints now continue to teleport racers even when they are marked as previously visited.
Bug fixes
Fixed an issue where the speedometer would fail to update while air rolling and thrusting forward without holding throttle.
Cleaned up the barriers in Sidewinder and Anarchy Arches 2 to prevent players from clipping through the environment.
Fixed an issue where the "Kicked for being idle for too long" message was appearing in English regardless of the player’s chosen language.
Fixed a game crash instance on Android devices.
